Online Public Information Centre
One Online Public Information Centre (PIC) will be held during the Preliminary Design to present the study process, identify the preferred plan, existing conditions, anticipated environmental impacts and proposed mitigation and to receive input on the proposed works within the study area.
At the time of the Online PIC, a ‘Notice of Public Information Centre’ will be published in the local newspaper, Cochrane Times Post, posted on the project website and sent to the project mailing list to indicate a date and time. The PIC materials will be available for review on this project website or via hard copy upon request.
Transportation Environmental Study Report
The Study is following the approved planning process under the MTO Class Environmental Assessment for Provincial Transportation Facilities and Municipal Expressways (2024) for a Group ‘B’ project. This includes and assessment of potential impacts of the project works on the study area and the development of mitigation measures to address environmental concerns.
Upon completion of the Preliminary Design, a Transportation Environmental Study Report (TESR) will be prepared detailing the existing conditions, socio-economic environment of the study area, the evaluation of alternatives, identify the preferred plan, summary of design features, potential impacts of the undertaking, and required mitigation measures. The TESR will be made available for a 30-day comment period.
At that time, a ‘Notice of TESR Completion’ will be published in the local newspaper, Cochrane Times Post to explain the process and identify locations where the TESR can be reviewed. The TESR will be made available for viewing on this project website under Reports. If there are no outstanding concerns, the Study will be considered to have met the requirements of the MTO's Preliminary Design and Class EA process and will proceed to Detail Design and construction.
